  7. Registration is close to capacity for the NJRW full day masterclass with Damon Suede on Saturday, April 14th. If you'd like to attend this event, don't wait to register! Seating is limited! NJRW is proud to present a full day masterclass with Damon Suede on Saturday, April 14th. Register now! Seating is limited! Based on techniques presented in his new book on characterization and story planning, Damon Suede presents a full-day masterclass on bringing stories to life and life to stories. This full-day workshop includes two masterclass sessions designed to help you tackle the issues and challenges specific to your creative process. MOVING CHARACTERS: action figures – 9am – 12pm Bestsellers start with fascinating people. Boost your writing process and anchor your career at any stage with a new characterization method that jumpstarts drafting, crafting, revision, and pitching. In this deep-dive morning session, we’ll take your fictional folks to the next level with a simple, powerful technique that will strengthen your people, your plots, your hooks, and your voice whether you’re a plotter or pantser, a beginner or an expert. Go beyond looks, persona, and boilerplate traits so you can bust your ruts and build the perfect cast to dazzle your readers. CASTING CALL: starring roles – 1:30pm – 4:30pm For the afternoon, we’ll get personal and practical. Expanding on the techniques presented earlier, this session gets down to the nitty gritty of crafting your own fascinating cast without unnecessary trivia, digression, or theory. Spotlight your primary characters with a supporting lineup that amps the stakes and emotion in every scene. Bring a project that’s in process or start one from scratch in the room, and we’ll zero in on the best possible dramatis personae so your story can write itself. In addition, each attendee will receive a print copy of Verbalize, a new writer guide which lays out fresh, practical solutions which will expand on the day’s material. Most writing manuals skirt craft questions with gimmicks and quick fixes rather than plugging directly into your story’s power source. Energize your fiction and boost your career with · a new characterization method that jumpstarts drafting, crafting, revision, and pitching. · skill-builders to intensify language, stakes, and emotion for your readers. · battle-tested solutions for common traps, crutches, and habits. · a dynamic story-planning strategy effective for plotters and pantsers. · ample examples and exercises to help you upgrade fiction in any genre. Blast past overused tics and types with storycraft that busts your ruts and awes your audience with a fresh set of user-friendly, language-based tools to populate your pages and lay the foundations of unforgettable genre fiction.
