PERMISSION TO FORWARD GRANTED AND DESIRED ;)

* * * * **********************

Registration for New Jersey Romance Writers' 2009 Put Your Heart in a Book Conference is well under way!

We have some great things planned for our 25th anniversary conference, Oct. 23-24, 2009, at the Renaissance Woodbridge Hotel (formerly the Woodbridge Hotel & Conference Center), Iselin, NJ.

It all starts with a stellar slate of speakers, led by featured guests Karen Rose, keynote; Allison Brennan, luncheon speaker; and Angela Knight, our Special Presentation Speaker for the first 100 conference registrants.

NEW THIS YEAR:

* Half-day Pre-conference Workshop, "The Novel: Idea to Completed

Manuscript," with Bob Mayer. This special four-hour event will cover the following topics:

* The Original Idea: The Heart of Your Story and Key to Selling Your

Book - Say what your book is about in 25 words or less.

* Conflict: The Fuel of Your Story - The Conflict Box focuses on

protagonist, antagonist, goals and the conflict lock.

* Outlining and Plot: The Events of Your Story - The entire structure

of the novel will be covered, from hook to resolution.

* Characters: The People of Your Story - The most critical component

of a novel is character. How do you go from flat, two-dimensional characters to vibrant, three-dimensional ones?

* Point of View: The Voice of Your Story - Use the concept of the

"camera" and being the book's "director" to master point of view.

* Expanded PAN Retreat - Published authors will get a special treat

this year, as our PAN Retreat is kicked off in a big way with special guest Beth de Guzman, VP and Editor-in-Chief of Paperbacks of Grand Central Publishing. Beth is known for her candid discussions about the romance publishing industry and she'll be sharing her knowledge of the business with published authors in attendance. During both an informal discussion format and a Q&A period, published romance authors will hear about the state of publishing and be able to

ask their questions of this experienced, influential publishing professional. In addition to the Retreat keynote speaker, NJRW PAN is planning several roundtable discussion groups about different facets and issues in the industry and topics of interest to published romance authors.

Plus, the conference will feature editor/agent appointments, the Golden Leaf & Put Your Heart in a Book Awards Ceremony, Literacy Book Fair and Author Signing, and more. You won't want to miss out!

PERMISSION TO FORWARD

************************************

Come celebrate New Jersey Romance Writers' 25 years with Karen Rose, Allison

Brennan, Angela Knight, Jennifer Crusie, Grand Central Publishing's Beth de

Guzman, and many more!

This year's New Jersey Romance Writers Conference is just weeks away, and

the excitement is building! As our 25th anniversary event, the 2009 NJRW Put

Your Heart in a Book Conference features some additional treats this year

for our attendees - including an expanded PAN Retreat kicked off by Beth de

Guzman, and a first-time-ever pre-conference workshop.

Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts, Bob Mayer is unable to attend

and host his Friday pre-conference workshop on novel-writing and his

scheduled Saturday workshops.

However, we are pleased to announce that New York Times best-selling author

and two-time RITA winner Jennifer Crusie will be stepping in to do a

three-hour workshop on Central Idea, Plot Structure and Character Arc,

Friday, Oct. 23 from 9 a.m. to noon, prior to the official start of this

year's conference. She will also be speaking on Saturday, Oct. 24, at

workshop sessions focused on beginnings and endings, and the use of collage

in writing.

Jenny Crusie joins this year's prestigious featured authors, Karen Rose

(Keynote), Allison Brennan (Luncheon Speaker) and Angela Knight (Special

Presentation), as well as a stellar group of workshop speakers presenting

more than 40 regular seminar sessions.

In addition, the conference will be hosting editor/agent appointments, the

Golden Leaf & Put Your Heart in a Book Awards Ceremony, a Literacy Book Fair

and Author Signing, and more!

The NJRW website is currently being updated to reflect this new information,

and other special additions to the festivities. For more information, go to

www.njromancewriters.org/conference.asp. To register, go to

www.njromancewriters.org/conference/conferenceregistration.asp

We'd love to have you there to celebrate our 25th anniversary!
