Class Description:

In this competitive market and fast-moving world, the vast majority of readers are not going to spend the time `sinking into' a good book, not unless it has a powerful opening that really hooks them and promises great drama. This 2 week class will discuss specific, simple strategies for writing powerful openings that hook the reader—be it an agent, an editor, or a reader—and don't let go.

Bio:

Psychotherapist, mom, wife and writer, Kris Kennedy doesn't have much time for anything. Including reading. A story opening has to absolutely grab her for her to keep reading. She's been working to hone these skills and strategies to help make her own book potent from the very first work. Kris won RWA's Golden Heart® for Best Historical Novel in `08. Her debut book, THE CONQUEROR, came out in May `09, and her second THE IRISH WARRIOR, winner of the `08 GH, comes out in June, from Kensington. She recently signed another 2 book contract with Pocket.

Format: Course is conducted via Yahoo Groups email with lessons and Q&A. You will receive an invitation to join the group a few days before. If you don't receive this invitation, please contact the Campus Coordinator: classes@heartsthroughhistory.com
