Patti Fischer 0
RWA® Online presents: Put Your Prose on a Diet Instructor: MM Pollard Dates: March 4-25, 2013, 10 lessons Cost: $15. Free for RWA® Online Chapter members Registration: http://www.rwaonlinechapter.org/campus.htm Workshop Description: You’ve decided to be a big girl or a big boy and cut the fat from your baby, your manuscript. In this four-week workshop, MM Pollard will show you where and how to cut the excess without too much pain and agony. In lessons titled Hacking Away with a Machete, Using Pruning Shears, and Triage for Your Wounded Story you’ll learn how to cut large portions of your manuscript and how to repair the holes left by the massive cutting. The focus narrows to smaller cuts in lessons titled Slash Wordy Sentences, Clip Wordy Phrases, Snip Wordy Words Here, Snip Wordy Words There, and Refurbish Your Word Choices. No writer likes to cut, but your characters and your future editor will thank you. Will it hurt? Maybe. Keep this prose diet in prospective -- it’s so much easier trimming your flabby prose than trimming your flabby tummy. Trust MM -- she knows first-hand of what she writes. Free Edit: If you complete all of your homework, MM will edit 1,000 words of your writing. That’s your reward for all that cutting you’re going to do during this month-long workshop. Be sure to join us and learn how to Put Your Prose on a Diet.
