Thisworkshop gives an overview of supporting archetypes in fiction and other typesof entertainment, and ideas on how to twist them, shape, them, develop them,and make them uniquely your own. Beprepared to write -- there will be a combination of overviews, discussions, andshort exercises. This is not a workshopfor lurkers. Required Text: Strunk & White's Elements of Style Exercises will include creating theprotagonist's circle, the antagonist's circle, making archetypical caricaturesinto characters, and how to reign in characters who try to take over. Exercises build on each other, and must bedone IN ORDER and turned in by DEADLINE. New exercises are posted when the previous exercise is due, not handedout at the top of the class. Presenter bio: Devon Ellington is a full-time writer,publishing under a half a dozen names in both fiction and non-fiction. She’s published hundreds of articles andshort stories.
