Breathing Life Into your Scenes-offers a step by step approach to layering vivid details about setting, emotion and character into each scene you write. Harlequin Romantic Suspense author Beth Cornelison will show you how to select the right details and character-specific information to place your reader in the scene and make a powerful impression, without bogging down your pace. Elements discussed include environment, setting, costume, five senses, physical presence, mood and emotion. The workshop helps writers select the best details to support their story, weave it in through character perceptions, and avoid slowing the pace with unneeded information or overlong description. Well-chosen description can make your writing come alive and lift your manuscript out of the slush pile!

About the presenter: Beth Cornelison has won numerous honors for her work including a final in the 2010 Rita contest sponsored by the Romance Writers of America. She made her first sale to Silhouette Intimate Moments in June 2004 and has gone on to sell many more books to Harlequin/Silhouette. She has also published with Five Star Expressions, Samhain Publishing, and Sourcebooks.

Snoopy is her muse, and she loves cats, chocolate, and being lazy. Her only son recently started college, so she has an empty nest (room for more cats?) Beth has presented workshops across the country to numerous chapter meetings, conferences, online classes and book clubs. She lives in north Louisiana with her husband and a fluctuating number of kitties who think they are people.

Class format: Courses are conducted via online discussion (bulletin) board on the RWA® Online website (no email loops). Non-chapter members MUST complete both the workshop registration AND the discussion board login registration for access. Payment must be received prior to class start or you will not be allowed to participate.
